Originally built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style, it was rebuilt in 1936 in the Art Moderne style after a catastrophic fire destroyed the original interior. 1936 architect John Eberson, is often called “the dean of American Theatre Architects.” On April 10, 1981, it was split into four screens. The façade features four laughing theatrical faces, along with three dramatic arched windows and two false windows inlaid with colorful terra cotta tiles.
